What “public IP” means

• It is the address visible to the outside internet, not necessarily your local LAN address like 192.168.x.x.

• Home routers often share one public IPv4 across many devices (CGNAT or classic NAT).

How to use

Why is this different from the IP in my router admin page? Router pages often show private LAN addresses. This tool shows the public address seen from the internet side.

Can websites still see me if I use a VPN? They see the VPN exit IP instead of your home IP. That is usually the point of the VPN.

Is my IP personal data? In many privacy frameworks an IP can be personal data. Share it only when needed.
